Custom Knife Blocks Custom Island/Counter Tops Custom Corporate Gifts Custom Engraving Custom Thank You Gift Program Custom Sized Cutting Boards Other Custom Requests | | | | We sure like custom work, don’t we? | | | Custom Knife Blocks Whether you have a collection of 1 knife or 111 knives, we’re happy to quote a custom knife block for your specific knife collection. Custom knife block prices start at $250.00 and can range up to $800.00 depending on wood selection and knife collection size. Here are some pictures of custom pieces that we’ve made for specific clients. | Made from the finest tiger maple, this customer added on steak knives during construction. Notice the cleaver slot up top. | | | Made from Maple Burl, this was one beautiful piece, everyone in the shop wanted to take it home. | | | Made from Brazilian padauk, this customer had to have a ¾” surround of padauk on the piece. It came out beautiful, but we still don’t understand how someone could have so many small knives. Oh well. | | | Made for 13” long blades, this block seemed a bit out of proportion, but it came out beautiful none the less. Notice how the darkness of the walnut brings out the warm brown tones of the maple burl. | | | Made for a Florida cabinet maker, this piece was made to fit into a column that was built in the kitchen. It had enough slots to fit an army of cutlery. | | | | How it works: We ask that you trace your knife blades onto paper and mail us the tracings along with a $50.00 check. Faxing doesn’t work because some faxes reduce or enlarge images. (We learned that one the hard way!) Include any preferences you have. We’ll take your tracings and create a custom face print of what your newly handmade knife block would look like. Of course we can revise the layout with your input, nothing is set in stone until we get your approval. We’ll also send you samples of the exterior wood you’re interested in and give you pricing that matches the wood selections you choose. Of course the $50.00 fee is credited toward the block when you decide to purchase it. Call us or e-mail us to get started. Better yet, just send us a $50.00 check, your tracings and your e-mail address and we’ll get started right away. From start to finish this process takes approximately 3-4 weeks but we guarantee you’ll be satisfied with this conversation starting piece of art! | | [Top] | Custom Island/Counter Tops We only use premium quality wood stock, FDA approved food safe glue and a variety of finishes depending on the application. We hand select our woods to be used in our pieces and we never use finger joints in any of our pieces (that’s for the mass manufacturers.) We made the countertops used on Guy’s Big Bite on the Food Network. Here are some examples of other custom island tops we have made for customers: | Made for a local Vermont resident, they wanted a field of maple with a double walnut stripe on each side and and endcap of bird’s eye maple. It came out stunning! | | | Made for a $100,000+ kitchen renovation, this piece was fitted upon an antique table base. It’s 4” of solid walnut end grain. The boards were laid out by hand to beautify the grain patterns. Ask the mass manufacturers if they’ll do that for you! | | | Made from solid Cherry, this custom top was made specifically to fit the customer’s Kohler sink. It came out great and the customer was very pleased. | | | Made from a customers specific requirements about layout and color, this piece now resides in a huge house in Connecticut. Notice the color and the gradual curve on the front edge. | | | Butcher Block by name is the lamination of wood strips together using some form of adhesive. “Butcher Block” has become a commodity in the United States with a number of mass manufacturers holding the lion’s share of the “Butcher Block” market. That’s fine with us, we are a small but GROWING business that cannot compete with the mass manufacturers of the world (nor do we want to.) The mass manufacturers take truck loads of wood and put it into one end of a machine and out pops butcher block on the other end of the machine. | | [Top] | | Custom Corporate Gifts | Made for an executive dinner in NYC, Xerox was laser engraved into the top surface of each sushi board. | | | Made for a private school in NYC, these pieces were given out in gift bags for auction attendees. | | | Made for RR Donnelley, a Park Avenue marketing firm, these cheese boards were custom made from stunning tiger maple with a walnut border. | | | | Whether it’s one piece or 1000 pieces, we can take care of your corporate gift giving needs. We use a state of the art laser to engrave your corporate logo into any of our pieces including but not limited to spoons, cutting boards, cheese boards, sushi boards, wine bottle coasters and just about anything else you can think of. Some examples of previous orders are sushi boards for Xerox Corporation, they had an executive dinner at a Japanese restaurant and food was served on them. We’ve done thank you gifts for a Bobby Flay restaurant opening, cheese boards for RR Donnelley, a Park Avenue marketing firm, cheese paddles for a Pebble Beach Country Club restaurant, 800 pieces for a private school auction gift bag in NYC, 300 pieces for a Boston catering company, custom wine coasters and charcuterie plates for Chef Daniel Boulud and the list goes on and on. E-mail us your logo to get a free sample cutting board with your corporate logo engraved in it. | | [Top] | Engraving We use a state of the art laser system to engrave corporate logos, thank you messages, wedding information, birthdays, lovey-dovey messages, and whatever else our customers want or need. We also have most of the national real estate logos on file due to the large amount of gifts we sell to the industry. Below are some examples of the engraving we’ve done: | We made a number of pieces for the Oberto Sausage Company and their launch of a new product. | | | These pieces were specially engraved for a grooms wedding party. | | | Made for a chapter of Meals-on-Wheels, these spoons were also engraved on the handles with the name of specific restaurants that had donated a certain amount of food; what a great idea. | | | Engraved for a New England vineyard, these pieces were for sale in their gift shop. | | [Top] | | Custom Thank You Gift Program | Imagine this: You’re a Real Estate Agent who has just completed a sale or a general contractor who has just finished a full kitchen remodel; you give a thank you gift of flowers or candy with your business card attached. The flowers die or the candy gets eaten and your business card gets lost in a drawer somewhere only to be thrown out several months later. When the gift recipient wants to refer you to friends or family, how are they going to find your contact information? If you had given them one of our cutting boards with your logo and contact information laser engraved right onto the top or bottom of the piece, your info would already be on their countertop and in their fingertips! How it works: You send us your logo and message for the cutting board or item selected. Every time you need to send someone one of your pieces, just e-mail us and we’ll engrave the piece, send it out and invoice you or charge your card, whichever you prefer. We keep your logo and contact information/message on file here at VTBBB so it’s easy for us to send out your gifts! E-mail us for a free sample or to set up your customized Thank You Gift Program. Time and time again, we’ve heard stories about people who have given our products as gifts, get repeat or referral business from friends that had one of our cutting boards on their counter tops. | | [Top] | Custom Sized or Shaped Cutting Boards and butcher blocks Just about every day we get asked if we make custom sized cutting boards or butcher blocks. Good customer service isn’t dead at every company in the US. | An executive at Disney, this customer wanted a cherry cutting board to match his cabinets. | | | This walnut piece actually adorns my Thermidor griddle in my kitchen. The stovetop is a number of years old and the stainless steel cover was starting to rust. | | | Made for the opening of a Bobby Flay restaurant, these pieces were made from maple and walnut to mimic the inlaid floor of brass/mesquite. | | | Made for a customer who wanted a 6” block to insert in their island.
